Sharpened My Finger… Oops!
I hadn’t had time for Honbaduke lately and spent my days doing only practical sharpening. But today, I decided enough was enough—it’s a sharpening day! Starting from the morning, I tackled Honbaduke one by one.
I have this weird personal theory: ‘If you don’t nail the sharpening in one go, things rarely turn out well.’ Maybe it’s just my mindset, but if you keep fussing with it mid-process, it tends to go sideways.
Of course, I knew that, but I couldn’t resist touching it up… and sure enough, things got messy. Desperate to fix it, I went at it full throttle—and ended up sharpening my own fingers! Managed to put holes in my right index and middle fingers.
If you noticed something odd there, good catch! I was doing Honbaduke on a left-handed knife, so I nicked my right hand. It’s been a while since I’ve done that…
Thankfully, the remaining knives are all right-handed, so I can still keep going. Silver linings, right?
